Carson Valley Turkey Trot Fun Run

Carson Valley Turkey Trot Fun Run takes place in Minden, Nevada, on Thanksgiving morning, November 26, 2026. The Kid's Turkey Dash, a short sprint of about 0.2 mile for children 12 and under, starts at 8:30 a.m., and the 5K Run/Walk (3.1 miles) follows at 8:45 a.m. The event starts from Minden Park in downtown Minden and takes you through the town's picturesque downtown district in the heart of the Carson Valley. A virtual option is available if you would rather cover the distance at your own pace elsewhere, and T-shirts and goodie bags are provided while supplies last.

This is a fun run first and a race second, so it suits families, walkers, and anyone who wants a relaxed start to the holiday. That said, an all-out 5K through a small downtown is still a fine place for a fast effort if you have been training; warm up for ten minutes and settle into an even pace from the first block. Newer runners can get ready in four to six weeks with three easy runs a week. Register early if you want to be sure of a shirt.
