Columbia River Classic Run

Columbia River Classic Run is held in Richland, Washington, on November 14, 2026. The 2-mile dash goes off at 9:00 a.m. and the competitive 10-mile run follows at 10:00 a.m., both starting and finishing at the USS Triton submarine memorial. The event is put on by 3 Rivers Road Runners, and part of the proceeds goes to Camp Patriot, which supports veterans. Entry is free for children under 15, adults pay a fee, aid stations carry water and energy gels, and age-group awards go to the leading runners.

Ten miles is an unusual and useful distance: long enough to demand real endurance, short enough to race hard without a marathon's recovery cost. Build a weekly long run of 10 to 12 miles over the preceding eight weeks and add a steady tempo of 4 to 5 miles.
