Davis Turkey Trot

Davis Turkey Trot is the annual pre-Thanksgiving run in Davis, in Yolo County, California, and takes place on November 21, 2026. The half marathon (13.1 miles) leads off at 7:50 a.m., followed by a two-mile run and Dog Jog at 8:05 a.m., the 5K at 8:30 a.m., the 10K at 9:00 a.m. and a one-mile run or walk at 10:15 a.m., with kids' fun runs over a half mile, a quarter mile and a toddler trot. The route goes through residential neighborhoods and green space, and a post-race expo offers refreshments and samples from vendors. Awards go to top finishers in several categories.

Few races cover this much ground in one morning, and the spread of start times means a household can enter three different distances without missing each other's finishes. Walkers and dog owners have their own slot at two miles. For the half marathon, a 12-week build with a weekly long run reaching about 11 miles is the standard approach; for the 10K, three or four runs a week with one faster session is plenty.
