Dizzy Horse, A Winter Backyard Ultra begins at 10:00 a.m. on January 8, 2027, at the Bonneville County Exhibition Hall and Sandy Downs Park in Idaho Falls, Idaho. The format is a backyard ultra: a 4.167-mile loop every hour, repeated until only one runner is left standing. The terrain mixes grass, dirt and pavement. Two entry options are offered, Bareback with minimal support and Thoroughbred with access to a full aid station, and awards mark various milestones along the way.

Backyard racing is a test of discipline rather than speed, since every loop must be finished inside the hour and the rest of that hour is yours. The runners who last longest finish each loop with fifteen minutes to spare, eat something every round, and change socks before they need to. Crews can be on site but cannot help you on course, so plan your own drop bag carefully.
