Fungus 5K

Fungus 5K is run in Irvine, Kentucky, on April 24, 2027, as part of the Mountain Mushroom Festival, a weekend of activities and entertainment built around morels and Kentucky agate. Two distances are offered: a 2K at 8:30 AM and the 5K, listed at 5.1 km or about 3.2 miles, at 9:00 AM. Snacks and drinks are available at the finish, and the event is organized by the city of Irvine together with the festival committee.

Both formats are set up as a run or walk, which makes the morning as much about the festival as about the finish time. The 2K gives children and first-timers something achievable, while the 5K is short enough that anyone running a few times a week can take it on. If you want to race it rather than jog it, add one session of faster running each week for a month beforehand and keep everything else easy.
