About

Gate River Run is the largest 15K road race in the United States, held in Jacksonville, Florida, on March 6, 2027. Two distances are offered, the 15K (9.3 miles) and a 5K (3.1 miles). The race has hosted the USATF 15K championships in nearly every year since 1994, drawing professional fields alongside more than 15,000 participants. The course crosses two large bridges over the St. Johns River, and the final one, the Hart Bridge climb known as the Green Monster, is a genuine strategic problem in the closing miles.

That late hill is what shapes the whole race: hold something in reserve through the flat middle section rather than banking time, and practice sustained climbs of two to three minutes in training. With national-level competition at the front, live music along the route, and a large community field behind, it reads as both a championship and a city-wide event. The 5K is the shorter alternative on the same day.
