Lincoln Presidential Half Marathon

Lincoln Presidential Half Marathon starts at 7:30 a.m. in Springfield, Illinois, on April 10, 2027. The half marathon (13.1 miles) sets off from the Old State Capitol and takes in sites tied to Abraham Lincoln, passing the Lincoln-Herndon Law Offices, the Lincoln Home, Oak Ridge Cemetery where Lincoln is buried, a city park and the train station near the Abraham Lincoln museum. It carries about 1,360 feet of climbing. Bibs can be collected at the expo in the President Abraham Lincoln Springfield hotel or on race morning at the Old State Capitol, and the event includes vendors and giveaways.

Thirteen hundred feet over 13.1 miles is enough to make even pacing the wrong strategy: run to effort on the climbs and let the descents give the time back. Adding hill repeats once a week for two months beforehand pays off more here than extra flat mileage.
