McIntosh Turkey Trot

McIntosh Turkey Trot takes place in Sarasota, Florida, on November 6, 2026, starting at 5:30 p.m. The single event is a one-mile run or walk through the woods surrounding McIntosh Middle School, and a fall festival with music and community activities follows the racing. Awards go to the leading finishers in each age group and to the overall male and female winners, with further prizes handed out by raffle.

A mile is short enough that almost anyone can enter and long enough to hurt if you race it properly. Run it hard and you will want a genuine warm-up first, fifteen minutes of jogging plus a few strides, because there is no time to ease into a distance this short. Walked instead, it takes about twenty minutes and leaves the festival as the main event of the evening.
