Mountaineer 5K

Mountaineer 5K is put on by the Summit Academy parent-teacher association in Chandler, Arizona, on March 20, 2027, with the 5K (3.1 miles) starting at 8:00 a.m. Runners, walkers, and strollers are all welcome. The course starts and finishes at the Summit Academy middle school track and follows the canal for most of its length. Timing is done by chip with live results, and awards go to the age-group winners. Finishers receive a medal and a t-shirt, and there is food and drink afterward.

A canal-path 5K is about as consistent underfoot as a road race gets, which makes it a fair place to see where your fitness stands. If you are aiming for a time, warm up properly and start near the front so you are not weaving past walkers early on. If you are here with family or pushing a stroller, take it as a moderate outing instead. Either way, a few weeks of regular running is all the preparation needed.
