Nightmare In Elmwood 5k

Nightmare In Elmwood 5k is put on by GRIT Endurance in Columbia, South Carolina, on October 24, 2026, starting at 10 a.m. The Halloween-themed course runs through the historic Elmwood Park neighborhood, and a children's fun run is held alongside the 5K. Creative costumes are encouraged and prizes go to the best of them. Strollers and leashed dogs are welcome, entry includes a race shirt, and proceeds go to the Elmwood Park historic neighborhood association.

Neighborhood 5Ks reward runners who handle corners well: streets mean turns, and carrying your speed through them is worth more than a hard opening 400 meters. If you are pushing a stroller or running with a dog, start toward the back and give yourself space. As a piece of training, 3.1 miles at a hard effort fits neatly into an autumn block. Add a 15-minute warm-up and a mile of easy jogging afterwards and you have a complete session.
