Not Ya Mama's 5K

Not Ya Mama's 5K is organized by the Calhoun Civic Club in Calhoun, Louisiana, on October 24, 2026, with the 5K starting at 8:30 a.m. Runners set off from the Calhoun Civic Club on Calhoun Loop Road and finish with a victory lap at West Ouachita Wellness Park. A children's fun run around the park track follows the main event. The day doubles as a fundraiser for local scholarships and park improvements, with entertainment, food trucks, craft stalls and a chili cook-off.

Point-to-point 5Ks run differently from loops: you cannot preview the finish on your way out, so hold something back until you reach the park and the closing lap. That track finish is a good excuse to practise a kick in training, since one session a week ending with four fast 200-meter repeats makes the last stretch feel far better. With a kids' race and a festival afterwards, plan on staying rather than driving straight home.
