About

Oak Barrel Half Marathon starts and finishes on the historic town square in Lynchburg, Tennessee, on April 3, 2027, with the half marathon (13.1 miles) going off at 8:00 a.m. The loop course runs the rural roads of Moore County and passes the Jack Daniel's distillery. Its signature feature is Whiskey Hill, a mile-long climb beginning around mile 4 and topped off by a short, steep finish, after which the route turns rolling before a long descent between miles 9 and 12.

That profile shapes how you race it: this is not a personal best course, and running the first four miles at goal pace will cost you badly on the climb. Hold back early, hike or shuffle the steep pitch if you need to, and use the long downhill from mile 9 to make time up. Train with hills built into your weekly long run. Every finisher gets a custom medal, a shirt, and good refreshments, past editions have added hats or socks, and the race is chip timed with age-group awards and a field capped around 1,600.
