Pacific Trails California by UTMB (HOKA)

Pacific Trails California by UTMB (HOKA) is held in Santa Ynez, California, on November 14–15, 2026, on Rancho San Fernando Rey, a private ranch of roughly 30,000 acres in the Santa Ynez Valley of Santa Barbara County that was closed to the public until this race was created. Part of the UTMB World Series, the event was to debut in November 2025, but an atmospheric river dropped about 13 inches of rain on the ranch in one weekend, the most since 1965, forcing cancellation before the start. Two point-to-point trail formats are offered: the 50K (51 km, about 31.7 miles, roughly 5,100 feet of climbing) on November 14 and the 25K (about 15.5 miles, roughly 2,100 feet of climbing) on November 15.

The 50K follows old ranch and wagon roads, crosses oak-lined canyons, and climbs Loma Alta Mountain (about 2,740 feet) with views of Lake Cachuma, passing blue oaks, coastal grassland, cliffs, olive groves, and fords of the Santa Ynez River. Start and finish are at a converted barn serving as base camp, reached by shuttle from Solvang since private vehicles are not allowed. The top three men and women in the 50K qualify for the OCC in Chamonix, and all finishers earn Running Stones. Train with long trail runs that include sustained climbing.
