Pipestem Pumpkin Run

Pipestem Pumpkin Run takes place in Pipestem, West Virginia, on October 31, 2026. The 10K at 6.2 miles, the 5K at 3.1 miles and a 5K walk all set off together at 10:00 a.m., with a kids run of about six-tenths of a mile at 11:00 a.m. There is a Halloween costume contest with prizes, awards by age group, and a shirt for the first 80 entrants.

This is a community race in Summers County, aimed at fitness and turnout rather than fast times, and the walk option keeps it open to anyone. A 10:00 a.m. start is late enough that you can drive in the same morning, eat properly beforehand and warm up without rushing. If the 10K is your target and you already handle a 5K comfortably, six to eight weeks of adding a weekly long run of 5 to 6 miles is usually all it takes to move up.
