Playmakers Holiday Classic

Playmakers Holiday Classic is a festive run and walk through downtown Lansing, Michigan, on December 24, 2026. The main format is a 5K Run/Walk (3.1 miles) at 9:00 a.m., preceded at 8:45 a.m. by two children's events, a Kids K (1 kilometer) and a 100-meter Kids Reindeer Run. Once you are done there is hot chocolate and cookies waiting, and the event leans heavily on community spirit as a long-standing winter tradition.

With the kids' races finishing before the 5K goes off, a family can do the whole morning together without anyone missing a start. The 5K itself needs no particular build-up; if you run a few times a week, you are ready. Runners who want a time should be aware that a mixed run/walk field means lining up toward the front, so the opening quarter mile is not spent weaving through traffic.
