Quarry Shack 5 Miler

Quarry Shack 5 Miler is run in Vintondale, Pennsylvania, on October 31, 2026. Both formats, a five-mile run and a five-mile walk, start at 6:30 p.m. on the Rexis Branch of the Ghost Town Trail, on a closed out-and-back course. It is properly dark out there, so a headlamp or other personal light is required. The trail is decorated for Halloween, costumes are encouraged, and there are age-group awards for runners and walkers alike, plus snacks, a water station and plenty of photo stops.

Night trail running is slower than the same distance in daylight, and that is fine, since your stride shortens and your eyes work harder.
