SHAY 5K Run/Walk

SHAY 5K Run/Walk is held in Delano, California, on Saturday, November 28, 2026, with the 5K run and walk starting at 9:00 a.m. Organized by Spreading Help Around You, the event honors Shaylyn Anela Pinoliar while promoting pedestrian safety and supporting families affected by a death. Every entrant receives an event t-shirt and a custom medal, with awards for the top finishers in each age group and for the largest team, and reduced entry for young runners under 12.

The run-and-walk format and the team award make this an event to enter with a group rather than alone. It is a road 5K in California's Central Valley, so ordinary trainers are all you need and late-November mornings there are cool and dry. Regular runners can race the distance flat out; anyone starting from scratch can walk-run it after a few weeks of three sessions a week.
