Shut Up and Run 5K

Shut Up and Run 5K is held in Saint Augustine, Florida, on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2026, with a cross-country 5K (3.1 miles) starting at 8:00 AM at Treaty Park. Now in its 22nd edition, the race supports three local charities: St. Francis House, the only privately funded homeless shelter in St. Johns County; Ancient City Road Runners, which backs running programs in local schools; and Don's Friends, which helps a range of local causes.

A cross-country 5K means grass and natural surfaces rather than pavement, so your pace will be a little slower than on the road and your footing matters more. Shoes with some grip are a good idea, and you should run by effort rather than by the watch. It is a friendly distance for a first race and a sharp morning effort for experienced runners before the holiday meal. A few weeks of easy running with one faster session per week is plenty of preparation.
