Sisters Country

Sisters Country is held in Sisters, Oregon, on May 2, 2027, with two trail formats: a 50K (31 miles) and a half marathon (13.1 miles). Both start and finish at Village Green Park in downtown Sisters and take you onto the scenic trails of Central Oregon, with wide mountain views along the way. Every finisher gets a custom medal, and the top three men, women, and non-binary runners in each race receive prizes from the event's sponsors. Afterward, all participants and volunteers are served a burrito buffet and a cold beer from Cascade Lakes Brewing.

The half marathon is the more approachable entry point and a good first trail race if your background is on the road, since you can walk the steeper sections without losing much time. The 50K asks for real ultra preparation: roughly 16 weeks of building, a weekly long run pushed out to four or five hours on terrain that resembles the course, and practice eating and drinking on the move. Whichever you pick, hike the climbs deliberately and save your legs for the second half.
