Spooktacular Costume 5 K Run & Walk

Spooktacular Costume 5 K Run & Walk is held at Corwin M. Nixon Park in Mason, Ohio, on October 31, 2026. The annual 5K run and walk, 3.1 miles, starts at 9:00 a.m. on a course open to dogs and strollers. Costumes are part of the day, awards go by age group with medals for the leading finishers, and early entries include a shirt and a medal. Proceeds support Shine Like Sable, Comet Cupboard and the City of Mason, helping Mason City school students who face food insecurity.

A course that takes strollers and dogs is one you can share, so bring whoever wants to come and treat the 5K as an outing rather than a time trial. If you do want to race it, line up near the front so you are not weaving in the first quarter mile, and warm up beforehand. Costumes deserve a trial run too: anything that flaps or slips gets worse three miles in.
