Stubborn Spirits 24hr Run starts at 8:00 AM on December 5, 2026, in Weldon, North Carolina, in Halifax County, and runs for a full 24 hours on the historic Roanoke Canal Trail. The event is staged with Weldon Mills Distillery and takes the end of Prohibition as its theme. Runners who cover 100 miles inside the time limit earn a custom belt buckle, and every participant who reaches the finish receives a medal.

A timed 24-hour run on a trail loop is a different animal from a road race: you are managing food, feet and darkness as much as pace. Most people walk the climbs, eat every 30 to 45 minutes and treat the first six hours as far too easy.
