The Great Recycle Race-Earth Day

The Great Recycle Race-Earth Day is held in Shreveport, Louisiana, on April 22, 2027, over a single 3 mile course (about 4.8 km) starting at 6:00 PM. The event promotes sustainability around the ideas of reducing, reusing and recycling: every participant receives a medal and a secondhand t-shirt, and part of the proceeds goes to Woody's Home for Veterans. Runners and walkers of all levels are welcome to spend the evening at Columbia Park.

An evening start in Louisiana in late April means running in the warmest part of the day, so drink through the afternoon rather than at the last minute, and open at a pace that feels too easy for the first half mile. Three miles is short enough that regular walking or a few weekly runs is preparation enough.
