Trot Against Poverty 5K

Trot Against Poverty 5K is a Thanksgiving tradition in Vero Beach, Florida, held on November 26, 2026 to benefit United Against Poverty. The single format is a 5K starting at 7:30 a.m. The event welcomes all ages and abilities, whether you come to compete or simply to enjoy the morning, and awards go to the top finishers in several categories, including overall male and female and the various age groups.

The early start keeps things cool for a road 5K in Florida and leaves the rest of Thanksgiving Day free. It is an easy race to share with family, a good first 5K for beginners, and a legitimate chance at an age-group award for more competitive runners. If you want to run fast, six to eight weeks of consistent training with a weekly session of intervals or tempo running will prepare you well; if you are walking or jogging, a few weeks of easy activity will do. Plan to be on site well before 7:30 a.m. to check in and warm up.
