About
Turkey Trot for A-Rare-Ness: MPS1 is an annual Thanksgiving event in Rockwood, Tennessee, in Roane County, on November 26, 2026. It supports the Kennedy Ladd Foundation's efforts to find a cure for MPS1. The 5K run/walk starts at 8:00 a.m., and registered participants as well as those under 18 enjoy a free pancake breakfast. Family activities include a mini-run for kids. Festive costumes are encouraged, and awards recognize both overall performance and creativity. Proceeds go to MPS1 research and support services.
This is a community road 5K where the atmosphere matters as much as the clock, so it suits families, walkers and first-time participants just as well as runners who want to place overall. The costume award adds a playful element for those who like to dress up. If you plan to run it hard, four to six weeks of consistent training with one faster session per week will prepare you; otherwise, a few weeks of easy activity is all you need before the pancakes.
