About

United Way Turkey Trot takes place in Savannah, Georgia, in Chatham County, on November 26, 2026. The main event is a 4-mile run starting at 8:00 a.m., and the day is built as a community celebration of the Thanksgiving spirit: participants of all ages are invited to run or walk in a family-friendly atmosphere, there are options for the youngest participants, and awards go to the top finishers as well as the best costumes. A post-race buffet is part of the morning. Registration is required and spots are limited, so sign up early.

Four miles is a little longer than the standard Thanksgiving 5K, which changes the pacing slightly: hold back a touch in the first mile and let the effort build over the second half. It is a good distance for runners who find a 5K too short and a 10K too long for a holiday morning, and it works well as a first race beyond the 5K. Prepare with five or six weeks of steady running, including one run each week of at least four miles, and you will be comfortable from start to finish.
