Wirth Trail Classic

Wirth Trail Classic is held in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on May 2, 2027. Two formats are offered: a 6-kilometer trail race, about 3.7 miles, and an 800-meter course for children and juniors, which makes the morning a family outing rather than a solo trip. Both run on the wooded trails, lakes, and ponds typical of Minnesota, so this is nature running inside a city rather than a road race.

A 6K on trails is short, but soft footing, roots, and turns mean your pace will read slower than the same effort on pavement, and that is normal. Shorten your stride slightly, keep your eyes a few paces ahead of your feet, and let the downhills come to you. Road runners need no special build for this distance, though a couple of easy runs on unpaved ground in the weeks before will make the surface feel familiar. Start times have not been published.
