About

BINATIONAL RACE is held on October 25, 2026, out of San Diego, California, with a half marathon (13.1 miles) and a 10K. The half is unusual: it starts in San Ysidro, crosses the Tijuana River Valley Park, then enters Mexico through the San Ysidro-El Chaparral crossing, one of the busiest border crossings in the world, before a fast downhill final 5K into Playas de Tijuana. The field runs to more than 4,000.

A point-to-point half that finishes downhill is a reasonable place to run a quick time, though the border crossing in the middle will interrupt whatever rhythm you have built, so hold your split targets loosely. Eight to twelve weeks of preparation with a long run extending toward 12 miles will cover the distance; the 10K is there if you would rather race the same morning without the longer build.
