Lakefront Discovery Run 15K/5M

Lakefront Discovery Run is held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on October 31, 2026, organized by the Badgerland Striders along the city's lakefront. The 15K covering 9.3 miles starts at 9:05 a.m., the 5K of 3.1 miles at 9:15 a.m., and a children's costume race opens the morning at 8:40 a.m. Aid stations along the way hand out treats to a soundtrack of spooky music.

The 15K is the reason to enter. It is an unusual distance and a genuinely useful one, close enough to a half marathon to rehearse your pacing and fueling but short enough to recover from in a few days. Run the first three miles at a pace that feels too easy and you will still be moving well at seven. Costumes are encouraged, with prizes for the best of them and for the race winners, and shirts, post-race snacks and free beer go to participants and volunteers alike.
