Patriots Run 5K

Patriots Run 5K is held in Plano, Texas, on November 7, 2026. The main race is a 5K (3.1 miles) at 8:30 a.m., preceded by a one-mile fun run at 8 a.m. It is organized by VFW Post 2195 in tribute to the service of American veterans, and proceeds fund veteran assistance programs, scholarships and outreach work in line with the VFW's mission.

Having the mile go first makes this an easy morning to bring a family: younger runners get their own race and are done in time to watch the 5K. For the 5K itself, the half-hour gap means you could run both, using the mile as a warm-up if you are not chasing a time in it. Racing just the 5K, aim to run the three miles at a consistent pace rather than surging early, and do a few strides before the start so the first minute does not feel like a shock.
