Running of the Bulldogs 5K

Running of the Bulldogs 5K is based at McKinney North High School in McKinney, Texas, on October 24, 2026. The 1 mile fun run starts at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K at 9 a.m., with entries supporting the school's cross country and track teams. The course runs through the Timber Creek neighborhood and finishes on the high school track. Mile finishers get a ribbon and 5K finishers a custom medal, the top man and woman receive sunglasses and a free pair of shoes, and age group winners take home trophies. Inflatables, live music, food trucks, local artisans and face painting fill out the morning.

Finishing on a track is a gift if you are racing the clock, because the last stretch is flat and easy to judge. Six weeks of three to four runs a week, one with fast repetitions, is enough to arrive ready, and the mile doubles as a warm-up or a child's first race.
