Pelican Lakes Turkey Trot

Pelican Lakes Turkey Trot is a Thanksgiving morning event in Windsor, Colorado, on November 26, 2026. The 5K run (3.1 miles) starts at 9:00 AM, and a 5K walk follows at 9:05 AM. The route loops through Water Valley and starts and finishes at Pelican Lakes; strollers and dogs are welcome. After the race, participants can enjoy a light breakfast, coffee, hot chocolate, and a free beer in the banquet hall. Everyone receives a long-sleeve shirt, awards go to the top finishers, and proceeds benefit Athletes in Tandem.

With a run wave and a separate walk wave, this is an easy event to share with family members of different abilities. If you plan to run it hard, keep in mind Colorado's altitude and give yourself a longer warm-up than usual. If you are simply looking for a relaxed holiday run, a few weeks of easy jogging is enough preparation, and the walk option means no one has to sit this one out.
